Put a bit of powder foundation or setting podwer on your eyelids before applying the shadow. If you use liquid foundation that works too, but try to set it with a bit of loose powder. How do you keep eyeshadow from rubbing off by the end of the day!?
Exactly. Pressed powder beforehand will give the eyeshadow something to adhere to.
Use a primer...an excellent one is Urban Decay Primer Potion which you can get from Sephora. It's a little pricey but a little goes a long way. It keeps the color true and no matter how oily your eyelids are the shadow will not crease or smudge. If you have a CVS Pharmacy near you..you can try their Lumene eyebase which is cheaper but works just as well.
an eyeshadow primer, like urban decay's, would also work in addition to putting on a sheer powder on top once you finish.
you may also want to try a cream based shadow, which are more expensive, but would work for you if you don't use shadows that often because they last a really long time, both on the shelf and on the eye. MAC, and Nars both have good colors, and the Shesiedo hydropodwer shadows are among the best in the industry.
I think you could also go with a higher end eyeshadow, since you dont wear it often it would actually pay off in the end for you. I havent tried any yet but I hear the stuff Arbonne has is real good. If you want I can connect you with a friend who can talk with you about it, just send me an email. =)
Good luck!
heres how: DONT WEAR IT. by following my own inspiriation, i am smudge freeeee!!! wow brookie you ask lots-o-questions regarding makeup. its a wonder how you still have enough points to ask questions lol

you can get an eyeshadow primer. i use one by urban decay. works well.
Use a makeup primer. Urban Decay makes one especially for eye-makeup that is relatively cheap at Drugstore.com, for $15.

I am not crazy but after you put it on take clear lip gloss and apply a small amount on your eyelid then sit there for 2-3 minuets with your eye closed to let it set in
